WILDEY
CONFERENCE CENTRE
The Wildey Conference Centre, is part of the
Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) complex and has seating accommodation
for 145 theatre style, 70 persons in conference format, and 200
classroom style. The Centre offers 44 table microphones and a podium.
A restaurant also forms part of the complex.
SAM LORD'S CASTLE
The Superb 1820 regency mansion is the legacy of an
unusual man with an opulant lifestyle. The original owner, Samuel Hall
Lord, a Barbadian planter of legendary notoriety, furnished the Castle
with priceless antiques and paintings.
Today, the beautifully preserved Castle with 234
guest rooms, is owned by Grand Hotels Inc., and boasts conference
facilities with a capacity for 600 persons in theatre style; 200 in
classroom formation; 600 for reception or cocktail and 400 banquet
style. Situated on 72 acres on the southeastern coast, the resort
features 11 spectacular acres of palm-fringed beach B the largest on the
island.
SHERBOURNE CENTRE
Two miles from Bridgetown, the capital city, and
adjacent to the main highway linking the south and west coast hotels is
the Sherbourne Centre, a fully air-conditioned and well-equipped
facility able to accommodate seminars, meetings, international
government conferences, trade shows and exhibitions. It is set in
meticulously landscaped grounds near the Prime Minister's residence and
overlooks the verdure of the St. George Valley.
Restaurants and cafeteria facilities are available
with the Sugar Mill Dining Room seating 250 persons and the Tiffany
Cafeteria catering to 180. These are located directly off the foyers,
which also facilitate light exhibition space of 10,000 sq. ft.
The main hall seats 900 people theatre style and 400
in classroom style. An acoustic partition divides it into two separate
spaces, each served by simultaneous translation facilities for six (6)
languages. An observer/press gallery overlooks the Hall with a
secretariat which houses 12 offices and aChairman's suite to provide the
document production capability.
There is also a large exhibition/conference hall and
three smaller committee rooms which can provide 80 and 160 seats
respectively, in addition to the usual support services required for
international conferences such as medical, press, banking and post
office facilities.
